The Aquila Newsletter

The purpose of this newsletter is to keep all the supporters of the Matt Holder Environmental Education Fund informed of progress, updates, and information as we develop the Fund and its grant system. We will also publish interesting facts about Thickson’s Woods, as well as examples of projects that have been successful in other places.

There has been an incredible response to the newsletter and the Fund, but the question most often asked is “Why is the newsletter called The Aquila?” Simple answer: Matt’s favourite bird as a child was the Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) and I would tell him bedtime stories of the great Aquila, “King of all the birds”, stories that he relayed to his boys, Craig and Adam, when they were younger. I have written down some of these stories and will be publishing them in the near future.

The Aquila Newsletter will be sent through email as a PDF to those who request it, but will also be available through this web site and on Facebook.
